Final Major Project
This piece of experimental editorial design dissects my personal experience with COVID-19 induced isolation. Rather than focusing on the pandemic, I chose to examine a side of the pandemic not as readily discussed: the implications and lessons that can be taken from this historically poignant epidemic of social isolation. Shifting attention from just myself, I look at theoretical studies which echo my experience and relate to a wider audience. Inspired by zine culture, I regularly took a hand-rendered approach with regards to the construction of these pages. I developed an existing interest in scanography into an evocative collection of vignettes, giving merit to the myriad sensations provoked by extended isolation from the world. Within the confines of an a5 book I convey the constriction of the four walls of a bedroom and in the dynamic content, echo the chaotic rollercoaster of a time this was.

Yn hytrach na chanolbwyntio ar y pandemig, dewisais archwilio ochr o’r pandemig nad yw mor barod i’w drafod: Y goblygiadau a’r gwersi y gellir eu cymryd o’r epidemig hanesyddol hwn o unigedd cymdeithasol. Gan symud sylw oddi wrthyf fi fy hun, edrychaf ar astudiaethau damcaniaethol sy'n adleisio fy mhrofiad ac sy'n ymwneud â gynulleidfa ehangach. Wedi'i ysbrydoli gan ddiwylliant zine, cymerais ddull rendro â llaw yn rheolaidd, er mwyn adeiladu'r tudalennau hyn. Datblygais ddiddordeb presennol mewn sganograffeg i gasgliad atgofus o vignettes, gan roi teilyngdod i'r llu o synwyriadau a ysgogwyd gan arwahanrwydd estynedig o'r byd. O fewn cyfyngiadau llyfr a5 rwy'n cyfleu'r darwasgiad o bedair wal ystafell wely ac yn y cynnwys deinamig sy’n adleisio'r ‘rollercoaster’ o’r adeg pan oedd hyn.

MySpotify
D&AD Competition
Spotify’s 2021 D&AD brief called for designers to propose features that could reinvigorate the user experience. My empirical response as an avid user was a personal renovation to the app called ‘My Spotify’. I constructed an in-depth prototype which vastly develops the currently bland user-profiles and introduces an in-app messaging system. Having the existing brand structure to work with was a valuable addition to my design experience as I learnt to adhere to brand guidelines while expanding upon them.
Roedd briff Spotify ar gyfer D&AD yn galw am ddylunwyr i gynnig nodweddion a gallai adfywio profiad y defnyddiwr. Fy ymateb empirig i fel defnyddiwr brwd oedd gwneud adnewyddiadau i'r ap o’r enw ‘My Spotify’. Mi wnes i adeiladu prototeip manwl sy’n datblygu proffiliau’r defnyddwyr bland sydd ar hyn o bryd ac i gyflwyno system negeseuon o fewn yr ap. Roedd cael strwythur y brand presennol yn help mawr i mi wrth weithio gydag ac yn ychwanegiad gwerthfawr i'm profiad dylunio wrth i mi ddysgu cadw at ganllawiau’r brand wrth ehangu arnynt ar yr un pryd.
